Mary Baker Eddy has created a formalized system of Bible lessons in which 26 topics are repeated twice a year. These Bible lessons are important for several reasons. One of the reasons is that they are a part of the elementary structures, which as we shall later discover, are oriented northward, towards "the North Star, the Word, the polar magnet of Revelation." The North is also where the first light of the dawn appears on a summer day. In this sense, the Bible lessons are related to this essential dawning of the truth about God, man, and the universe; the dawning of spiritual understanding and scientific recognition.
The development of all the other structures of divine Science depend on this dawn. There can be no sunrise without a dawn, and no heat of day without a sunrise, and no sunset either. In a sense, the rudimentary structures that the Bible lessons are a part of, furnish the key to the kingdom. All further development must proceed from this foundation.
In order to make the Bible lessons effective they have become directly related to Mary Baker Eddy's foursquare structure, which is the foundation for the structure of divine Science. The relationship of the Bible lessons to the foursquare structure is created via the Christian Science textbook chapters, as these chapters are referenced within the Bible lessons. The Bible lessons are made up of a number of sections, each of these contains several Bible citations, followed by correlative citations from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy. The chapters that these textbook citations are from, link the lesson texts to the dynamics of the foursquare structure, by which the lessons texts become dramatically enriched. Naturally, the effectiveness of these lessons is thereby equally enhanced.
In order to create this linkage, the textbook chapters are related to the foursquare matrix in the following sequence. This sequence corresponds with the sequence of an upwards development, which naturally is the sequence in which the textbook has been arranged. The same correlation applies to the verses and paintings from Christ and Christmas, by Mary Baker Eddy, and the corresponding stanzas from the Lord's Prayer with its spiritual meaning added, by Mary Baker Eddy. The end result of this type of mapping of the textbook chapters and related structures is shown below.
The process of relating all of the rudimental structures of divine Science with the Bible lessons, provides a rich background (see illustration).
