It provides the interface to relate them to the whole of the foursquare structure?

The 16 chapters in the textbook, the 16 stanzas of the Lord's Prayer, the 16 segments in the Church Manual, and the 16 verses in Christ and Christmas are all brought into Mary Baker Eddy's city foursquare in a developmental order, starting at the lowest aspect in the first column, and ending with the highest aspect of last column.

In contrast with that, the chapter RECAPITULATION is arranged in the manner of a platform that starts with the highest element, and then lists below it everything that is subsumed by it, sequencing downward row by row. In this manner, the higher elements 'incorporate' what lays below them.

For the naming of the individual rows and columns please see the attached illustration and also refer to the exploratory article: - Sublime Science

However, the chapter RECAPITULATION contains 24 elements, whereas the foursquare structure can contain only 16. This creates a paradox. But how can one solve it?

Here the manner in which Christ and Christmas is constructed, comes to our aid. It contains 16 verses, as required to cover the foursquare structure, but fewer paintings, so that in some cases two adjacent verses are grouped together as related aspects, reflecting the same painting . When this principle is applied to the chapter RECAPITULATION, its 24 questions and answers can then be seen as logically grouped together into 12 groups as shown in the image at the top of the page.

So, what about the lower row then? Don't its elements matter? It all depends on what the focus is. The chapter RECAPITULATION contains Mary Baker Eddy's class manual. The focus is on raising thought above the ground for scientific mental healing. This healing is only possible when the focus of thought is raised to higher levels of perception than the level at which the problems are created, the level that the terms "night" and "hell" in the glossary pertain to.

Another factor comes into play here that has a natural dimension, which is related to the number of weeks in a year (52). Mary Baker Eddy has provided a set of 26 Bible Lesson topics to be repeated twice a years. It would be surprising if Mary Baker Eddy had not designed these topics to be constituents of the foursquare structure, together with everything else that she created. And this is evidently the case. But here again, we run into a problem. We have 26 topics, but only 24 spots for them. Mary Baker Eddy appears to have fixed this problem for us, by covering two related topics at once, with two of the questions (#20 and #22).

But the story doesn't end there. Mary Baker Eddy provided also 26 definitions for the name of ADAM in the glossary, which define the various dreamscapes which are countered and overturned by the 26 recapitulation elements, and of course also by the 26 Bible lesson topics.

Here where the 4th row becomes insignificant. Mary Baker Eddy provided a second set of definitions for the name ADAM. While the first set of 26 definitions stands in denial of the nature of man, the second set of 4 definitions stands in denial of the nature of God. Since there are four of these, they can be seen to apply to the four columns, representing four specific denials of God, as the fundamental error to be overcome, as shown below.

Mary Baker Eddy writes, "the name Adam represents the false supposition (shown in the 4th row) that Life is not eternal, but has beginning and end; that the infinite enters the finite, that intelligence passes into non-intelligence, and that Soul dwells in material sense; that immortal Mind results in matter, and matter in mortal mind; that the one God and creator entered what He created, and then disappeared in the atheism of matter."  Since the sequence is a progression of error it is sequentially applied from left to right.

The following is a list of the Bible lesson topics applied

They are applied as indicated above, with the Adam-denial of God added in the 4th row.

5 - LOVE. 3 - LIFE. / 4 - TRUTH 2- SACRAMENT 1 - GOD.
22 - ANCIENT AND MODERN NECROMANCY, ALIAS MESMERISM AND HYPNOTISM,  DENOUNCED. 24 - GOD THE PRESERVER OF MAN.

23 - GOD THE ONLY CAUSE AND CREATOR.

25 - IS THE UNIVERSE, INCLUDING MAN, EVOLVED BY ATOMIC FORCE? 26 - CHRISTIAN SCIENCE.
9 - CHRIST JESUS. 8 - MIND. 7 - SOUL 6 - SPIRIT.
18 - EVERLASTING PUNISHMENT. 19 - ADAM AND FALLEN MAN. 20 - MORTALS AND IMMORTALS. 21 - SOUL AND BODY.
13 - REALITY 12 - MATTER. 11 - SUBSTANCE. 10 - MAN.
14 - UNREALITY. 15 - ARE SIN, DISEASE, AND DEATH REAL? 16 - DOCTRINE OF ATONEMENT. 17 - PROBATION AFTER DEATH.
 Mary Baker Eddy writes, "the name Adam represents the false supposition:

that Life is not eternal, but has beginning and end;

that the infinite enters the finite, that intelligence passes into non-intelligence, and that Soul dwells in material sense;

that immortal Mind results in matter, and matter in mortal mind;

 that the one God and creator entered what He created, and then disappeared in the atheism of matter.

It should be noted here that the Bible Lessons are published quarterly, so that only a half of the topics are covered at a time. The division is such that the first set ends with the topic "Reality" and the second set begins with the topic "Unreality" so that the second part of the lesson platform is a mirror of the first, both in topics and in sequence, as shown below.

1 - GOD. 26 - CHRISTIAN SCIENCE.
2- SACRAMENT 25 - IS THE UNIVERSE, INCLUDING MAN, EVOLVED BY ATOMIC FORCE?
3 - LIFE. 24 - GOD THE PRESERVER OF MAN.
4 - TRUTH 23 - GOD THE ONLY CAUSE AND CREATOR.
5 - LOVE. 22 - ANCIENT AND MODERN NECROMANCY, ALIAS MESMERISM AND HYPNOTISM,  DENOUNCED.
6 - SPIRIT. 21 - SOUL AND BODY.
7 - SOUL. 20 - MORTALS AND IMMORTALS.
8 - MIND. 19 - ADAM AND FALLEN MAN.
9 - CHRIST JESUS. 18 - EVERLASTING PUNISHMENT.
10 - MAN. 17 - PROBATION AFTER DEATH.
11 - SUBSTANCE. 16 - DOCTRINE OF ATONEMENT.
12 - MATTER. 15 - ARE SIN, DISEASE, AND DEATH REAL?
13 - REALITY. 14 - UNREALITY.

It becomes apparent here that the entire Bible Lesson structure is centered on the fundamental question of what is reality and what is unreality. That this question is fundamental to civilization if not human existence as a whole is evident in modern time where the citadel of civilization is being torn down by a large array of fiction with no reality in them, both in politics and in the sciences.

One is the fiction of "Man-made Global Warming," for which the global economy is being trashed to deduced carbon emissions, while the climate transition towards the next Ice Age that is already in progress is being hidden. The consequences are enormous, as no steps are being taken to protect the global food supply by creating large new agriculture in protected areas. Here, the future existence of civilization and much of humanity with it, literally hangs in the balance over the question: what is reality and what is unreality.

Another arena where the belief in fiction versus reality has immense consequences. This is the "biofuels - renewable energy" fiction, for which massive amounts of food is being burned that would normally nourish over 200 million people. The travesty of this massive burning of food in a world of nearly a billion people living in chronic starvation adds up to the greatest silent holocaust of all time in which conservatively 100 million people are starved to death every year. This is a huge number that equals roughly tree times the population of Canada. Here the question becomes paramount: Why are we doing this?

Is manmade global warming reality or unreality? The evidence suggest that there is nothing true about it. Likewise, does the burning of food create an energy resource? Or is this too, pure fiction? The evidence tells that there is not an ounce of reality in this fiction since it takes as much energy-input, on average, to produce the biofuels, than the fuel gives back, so that it cannot be considered as an energy resource.

The separation of reality from unreality wasn't nearly as critical question in Mary Baker Eddy's time in terms of its consequences, but it was critical for understanding the human dynamics as a reflection of the divine dynamics. Where the two do not match, the boundary to unreality begins. It appears that the entire Bible Lesson system is functionally designed to explore this boundary and to heal the human dynamics where it doesn't reflect the divine dynamics. This may be the reason why the 13 topics for each set are designed in a mirroring fashion.

Now, let's look at the recapitulation questions and answers in the same manner

They are shown here with the sequentially corresponding element of the definition for ADAM added.

Note: The ADAM argument is often used as an argument against the specific statements of the answers to the questions, and thereby arguments against Truth. In this manner Adam speaks against reality, exposing its own dream as being without substance. Whatever argument opposes Truth, has not a trace of Truth in it, whereby the argument becomes self-destroyed.

Mary Baker Eddy writes, "the name Adam represents the false supposition:

that Life is not eternal, but has beginning and end;

that the infinite enters the finite, that intelligence passes into non-intelligence, and that Soul dwells in material sense;

that immortal Mind results in matter, and matter in mortal mind;

 that the one God and creator entered what He created, and then disappeared in the atheism of matter.

The grouping as shown is logically legitimate is indicated by the simple test of looking the first group in detail.

Question 1. - What is God?
Answer. - God is incorporeal, divine, supreme, infinite Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love.

Question 2. - Are these terms synonymous?
Answer. - They are. They refer to one absolute God. They are also intended to express the nature, essence, and wholeness of Deity. The attributes of God are justice, mercy, wisdom, goodness, and so on.

In a platform presentation the second question stands below the first.

The mirroring is between the beginning and end points, sequencing backwards from the center.

This kind of exploration was evidently intended by Mary Baker Eddy, since she required in the Church Manual that all class teaching in the field (the Primary class) be based on the chapter RECAPITULATION. Here is where all of the primary elements come together, with the Bible Lessons standing prominently in the center. The chapter Recapitulation is itself modeled after her own "class-book."

What she presented in her class-book, which she included into the textbook, adapted for it in 1875, as the chapter RECAPITULATION, is evidently more than just a collection of statements, but stands as the very foundation for the development of Christian Science in the field. Nor are the Bible Lesson topics simply picked out of thin air. They have been chosen, meticulously, to serve a specific developmental purpose in conjunction with the whole structure of her work, the foursquare city of interrelated concepts that Mary Baker Eddy brought all of her works into, and made a part of.

Since these Primary aspects are not being touched on in Primary class teaching, to the best of my knowledge, nor likely will for some time to come, as they have already remained hidden for the past century, I am presenting an overview of these primary aspects here, in a manner that the official Christian Science teachers might present one day in their Primary classes in future ages. The presentation on this page is designed that individuals may self-teach themselves in the mean time according to the design wisely provided by Mary Baker Eddy.
